Processing Negation in NL Interfaces to Knowledge Bases

چکیده
This paper deals with Natural Language (NL) questionanswering to knowledge bases (KB). It considers the usual conceptual graphs (CG) approach for NL semantic interpretation by joins of canonical graphs and compares it to the computational linguistics approach for NL question-answering based on logical forms. After these theoretical considerations, the paper presents a system for querying a KB of CG in the domain of nances. It uses controlled English and processes large classes of negative questions. Internally the negation is interpreted as a replacement of the negated type by its siblings from the type hierarchy. The answer is found by KB projection, generalized and presented in NL in a rather summarized form, without a detailed enumeration of types. Thus the paper presents an interface for NL understanding and original techniques for application of CG operations (projection and generalization) as means for obtaining a more "natural" answer to the user's negative questions.

Using Linguistic Analysis to Translate Arabic Natural Language Queries to SPARQL
The logic-based machine-understandable framework of the Semantic Web often challenges naive users when they try to query ontology-based knowledge bases. Existing research efforts have approached this problem by introducing Natural Language (NL) interfaces to ontologies. These NL interfaces have the ability to construct SPARQL queries based on NL user queries. However, most efforts were restrict...
متن کاملAR2SPARQL: An Arabic Natural Language Interface for the Semantic Web
With the growing interest in supporting the Arabic language on the Semantic Web (SW), there is an emerging need to enable Arab users to query ontologies and RDF stores without being challenged with the formal logic of the SW. In the domain of English language, several efforts provided Natural Language (NL) interfaces to enable ordinary users to query ontologies using NL queries. However, none o...
متن کاملTowards Enhanced Usability of Natural Language Interfaces to Knowledge Bases
One of the most prominent benefits gained from the emergence of Semantic Web technology is the possibility to access data more efficiently, through the use of ontologies [18]. Querying such data requires using formal languages such as SeRQL [7] or SPARQL [39]. However, the syntax of these formal languages tends to be too ’artificial’ and complex, especially for domain experts who are unfamiliar...
متن کاملKnowledge Base Intelligent Query Processing
In the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) there exists a long-standing goal for an expert system. Intelligent Query Processing is concerned with in the context of automatically processing NL text query with several Knowledge Base (KB) technique of AI-literature to develop an expert system. An intelligent system requires understanding of related terms like wisdom, knowledge, reasoning, though...
متن کاملCombining Dictionary-Based and Example-Based Methods for Natural Language Analysis
We propose combining dictionary-based and example-based natural language (NL) processing techniques in a framework that we believe will provide substantive enhancements to NL analysis systems. The centerpiece of this framework is a relatively large-scale lexical knowledge base that we have constructed automatically from an online version of Longman's Dictionary of Contemporary English (LDOCE), ...
